FOUR TOXIC PLANTS FROM MY MOTHERS GARDEN

2023

Polyester casts

Exhibition text from Mint Konsthall by Natasha Llorens.

"Tilda Lundbohm presents four transparent objects affixed to the wall. They are cast from three poisonous plants taken from her mother’s garden and a braid of her own hair. Like the plants, polyester is toxic to humans. The life cycle of human hair is between 2 and 6 years. Nourish by many tinybloodvessels feedat thebase of each strand, a person’shair shaft absorbs chemicalsfrom drugs and environmental toxins and it can be analyzed to determine exposure. The braid is also a symbol for youth and carefree play. Lundbohm’s work represents the garden of her childhood home. It is also a reflection on the small village in which her parents live and the often toxic psychosocial environment of such contexts for those who don’t fit in."
